One of the basic skills that student drivers will learn in classes for driving is how to reverse park. This skill involves learning how to maneuver the car while driving in reverse and using the mirror – signal – maneuver routine while looking out for any passing traffic. Your drive test administrator will expect student to be able to reverse park in a space which is about two car lengths and park safely at the curb in one smooth maneuver.
Examiners will also be paying attention to ensure that the student looks around them before proceeding with the reverse park, and that they do not park too close to the cars parked on either side of the space. They will of course give you negative marks for mounting the curb, but they do want to see that you are able to stop within a reasonable proximity to the curb.
