One of the topics which is covered in driving education school lessons is how to safely drive in foggy weather conditions. Foggy driving conditions are frightening for many drivers, especially if the fog is dense. Fog most often occurs during the morning or evening hours so to avoid the worst fog drivers should avoid these times if possible. They should also be aware of the areas where fog is most likely to form, including low lying lake, river or seaside areas.
If you must drive in foggy conditions, it’s recommended that you allow a greater distance cushion between vehicles in the front and back by increasing your count distance by an additional 5 seconds. Also, you should never attempt to speed up in order to drive through the fog more quickly.
