The RTA driving test is an important part of the NSW licensing scheme, and all new drivers must pass this test in order to get their full license. Those who are seeking their car license in New South Wales must work through a graduated licensing program which requires them to complete three separate stages. The first stage is the learner license, the second stage is provisional P1 license and the second stage is provisional P2 license.
As new drivers move through these stages they must pass both a computer based knowledge test to get the learner license and a hands on driving test to get the P1 license. The next step in the process is to take a Hazard Perception Test which is computer based to get the P2 license, followed by a Driver Qualification test which is also computer based to receive their full license.
